The Head of Government, Saad Eddine El Othmani had on Wednesday in Rabat, talks with the Vice President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), responsible for regional development, regional integration and service delivery, Khaled Sherif, focused on ways to strengthen and expand the partnership between the Kingdom and this institution.
During the meeting, the two sides welcomed the level of fruitful partnership between Morocco and the AfDB, which covers several sectors of economic and social development, and which supports the Kingdom’s major strategies in various fields, a statement said from the Department of the Head of Government, recalling that the AfDB’s investments in the Kingdom amount to $ 1.4 billion.
On this occasion, Mr. El Othmani reviewed the important structural reforms carried out by the government through the implementation of several programs, particularly those aimed at strengthening the process of advanced regionalization and the implementation of the provisions of administrative deconcentration, in addition to strengthening the public-private partnership and the reform of the education and training system as part of the 2015-2030 strategy.
It is also about promoting employment, increasing the share of industry in GDP, strengthening the competitiveness of the national economy, improving its ranking in several international indicators and the attractiveness of foreign investment, adds the same source.
In this regard, El Othmani cited the improvement of Morocco’s place in the Doing Business ranking established by the World Bank, as well as the Kingdom’s position as a pioneer in Africa in several vital economic sectors.
The interviews focused on supporting the process of advanced regionalization and implementing the provisions of administrative deconcentration. In this sense, the Vice-President of the AfDB expressed the full disposition of this institution to accompany Morocco in this area.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Regional Office for Development, Integration and Service Delivery in North Africa and the Director of the AfDB Office in Morocco.
