Defense cooperation between Morocco and the United States is going well and the Kingdom remains one of the few countries that will benefit from the latest version of the Patriot anti-missile system.
Attempts within the US Congress to reduce the amount of US military aid to Morocco have failed. These maneuvers, which also tried to exclude Morocco from the US Army’s military cooperation program, ended in monumental failure.
Cooperation between Morocco and the United States will even have to be stepped up. As evidenced by a report dating from 2019 and declassified by the US Department of Defense devoted to the program “Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE)” and which cites Morocco as a potential client with Sweden and Norway.
Under development by Lockheed Martin, an American defense and security company, this defense system has been developed to face various threats from the sky with great efficiency, in the light of its experiences on the battlefields and Gaps that appeared in its previous versions.
The main suppliers of the Moroccan army are the United States, France and Spain. The Kingdom is the biggest buyer of American weapons in Africa.
