Morocco: MEPs pay salaries to coronavirus fund

The House of Representatives confirmed the deduction of one month from the monthly allowance for MEPs for the benefit of the Covid-19 Special Fund.

In a message posted on the parliament’s website, the President of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki, confirmed on Wednesday that a month of parliamentary allowances has already been deducted from the remuneration of all deputies last March.

The institution also recalls that its initiative is based on the decision of the two Houses of Parliament to contribute to the national mobilization efforts undertaken by different components of the country to reduce the repercussions, but also the risks of this pandemic.

The institution did not fail to threaten “to take all measures against the campaigns of distortion of the legislative institution, underestimation of its work and deception of public opinion”.
