Morocco produced 2 million tons of olives

A record this year for Morocco which should, according to official figures, produce some 2 Million tons of olives.

This is 28% more than the previous campaign stating that olive growing provides 1.8 Billion dirhams in foreign currency each year.

These performances are mainly due to the Green Morocco Plan launched by the Minister of Agriculture Aziz Akhennouch to boost the sector and allow to cover to date more than one Million hectares of land.

The weather also played a big role in these figures with a good amount of precipitation throughout the season.

In terms of employment, the sector generated 51 Million working days, equivalent to 380,000 permanent jobs, of which 20% were women.
