Morocco ranked 4th in the world in tomato exports

Morocco rose to fourth place in the world in 2019 with a quantity of tomatoes exported of 587.82 million kilos, 8.13% of the world total, with an income of 683.49 million euros at the sale of this agricultural product at an average price of 1,163 euros per kilo.

And according to Agrimaroc, last year, the Kingdom sold 346.94 million kilos of tomatoes to France, 62.55 million in the United Kingdom, 52.19 million kilos to Russia, 49.4 to Spain and 38.33 million kilos in the Netherlands.

Mexico continues to dominate global tomato exports, with a figure in 2019 of 1,858.92 million kilos, 25.72% of the world total, with a value of 1,924.84 million euros and an average price of 1,035 euros per kilo. Mexican exports of this agricultural product in 2019 were almost entirely destined for the United States, the same source said.

The Netherlands remains second in the world. The quantity of tomatoes exported by this country in 2019 was 1,091.14 million kilos, or 15.1% of the world figure. Despite the decline, Spain also maintains its position, ranking third in the world ranking of tomato exporters.

Finally, Turkey closes the Top 5 on the list of global tomato exporters. The total quantity exported by this country in 2019 was 534.77 million kilos, 7.4% of the world total, with an income of 270.72 million euros and an average price of 0.506 euros per kilo, concludes Agrimaroc.
