Morocco received several materials relating to the production of the Sinopharm vaccine. These are all materials and supplies, used in the Fill and Finish process, that is, filling the vaccine into vials and syringes. In addition to the vaccine liquid, the new shipment also contains packaging supplies.
This arrival is part of the memorandum relating to cooperation for the filling and syringing of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine between the Moroccan state via the Sothema laboratory and the Chinese group Sinopharm. This is recorded by the agreement signed between the two countries as well as that signed between the Ministry of Health and the Moroccan pharmaceutical laboratory. Under this partnership, the filling of the vials with the Sinopharm vaccine liquid as well as the finalization process will take place in the premises of the Moroccan laboratory.
After the delivery of the manufacturing equipment, the mass production of the Chinese vaccine is expected to start, as planned, as early as next December, with a monthly capacity of five million doses. A phase, during which technical cooperation between Sinopharm and Sothema is required.
At the same time, preparations are underway for the construction of a Moroccan vaccine filling unit using “Fill and Finish” technology. A project which will be supervised by the Swedish subcontractor “Recipharm” and which should see the light of day within a period not exceeding the end of 2022.
Recall that the Kingdom has set up a public limited company called “Sensyo Pharmatech S.A”, which should operate in the field of vaccine manufacturing in the Kingdom and help make the Royal project a reality.
