The Royal Armed Forces (FAR) have received the first batch of the Chinese long-range anti-aircraft defense system with a Chinese FD-2000B battery, ordered in 2017. Morocco is strengthening its defense capabilities.
“his new defense system, with a range of 250 km was installed at the military base of Sidi Yahya El Gharb, located about fifty kilometers north of Rabat on an area of 42,000 m². The said base houses “another Sky Dragon 50 medium-range anti-aircraft defense system, also acquired from China in 2017”.
As a reminder, the contract for the acquisition of four FD-2000B batteries was concluded as part of the state visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to China, carried out in May 2016.
In addition to the Chinese FD-2000B long-range Chinese anti-aircraft defense system, Morocco of which three lots are awaiting delivery, the Kingdom also plans to acquire other defense systems, including the American Patriot and Israeli Barak-8.
