Morocco has acquired a large quantity of the drug Molnupiravir, developed by the American laboratory Merck. The Moroccan authorities received, last week, a first batch of the drug, considered the first of its kind, designed against Covid-19.
The same source indicated that the Moroccan authorities will receive a second batch from mid-January, when the drug will be included in the anti-Covid-19 and its variants treatment protocol from the Ministry of Health.
On Tuesday, a national marketing authorization was granted by the health authorities to the drug Molnupiravir. “The anti-covid-19 drug from the American laboratory Merck will be available in Morocco in the coming days,” said Dr. Said Moutawakil, member of the Covid-19 technical and scientific committee, in statements to the press. The expert also clarified that “Morocco has started negotiations to buy Pfizer’s pills, but also drugs manufactured by Chinese and Hindu laboratories which are under investigation”.
