The Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced on Tuesday the first death in the Kingdom, due to the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
In his bimonthly report on the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, Dr Moad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, indicated that the number of deaths linked to Convid-19 is gradually increasing.
He also indicated that the Omicron variant is increasingly present in Morocco, and has become dominant in the contaminations recorded.
“There are 7 confirmed cases of Omicron in the intensive care unit,” he added, adding that “the first victim is a 67-year-old woman suffering from a number of chronic diseases, and who had not received his third dose of vaccine”.
