Morocco: Renault consolidates its position as market leader

The Renault Group in Morocco consolidated its position as the market leader by winning 6 places in the “Top Ten” bestseller and completing the year 2018 with historical achievements in terms of deliveries (more than 75,400) and market shares reaching 42.5 pc.

Last year was marked by the launch of the new Dacia Duster, which had a very positive impact on its performance, with the model having reached 5th place in the best sales of 2018 with cumulative deliveries exceeding 8,000 units in just 8 months, says a Group press release.

Overall, Renault Morocco reconfirms its leading position by increasing its combined market share from 41.8% in 2017 to 42.5% in 2018 and has pulled the market with a positive growth of 6.9% compared to a single market which is only 5.2%.

Renault and Dacia have remained key market leaders in terms of volume and market share. Dacia has consolidated its leading position in market with cumulative market shares ranging from 27.8% in 2017 to 28.0% in 2018. The model has accounted for 49,649 sales in 2018 compared to 46,851 in 2017, a figure of record in the history of the brand in Morocco.

In the previous year, Renault sold 25,769 vehicles and increased its market share from 14.1% in 2017 to 14.5% in 2018, a development confirming its position as the 2nd largest brand in the Moroccan market, and consolidating its leadership with a market share of 29.3% at the end of 2018 thanks, among other things, to its flagship Renault Master model, the statement added.

Thus, six of the Group’s models are in the top ten of the Moroccan market with Logan, Clio, Dokker and Sandero respectively occupying the top 4 places, followed by Duster and Kangoo respectively 5th and 6th places.
