Morocco to acquire four Gulfstream G550 aircraft

Morocco will acquire four G550 ISR-type electronic warfare and reconnaissance aircraft following an agreement with US private aircraft manufacturer Gulfstream Aerospace in 2019.

L3 Technologies, the US supplier specializing in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems and electronics and communications systems for defense, homeland security and civil aviation is working to equip four G550 aircraft. The Moroccan naval force could replace its current electromagnetic intelligence aircraft – C130 Hercules and Falcon 20ECM – with the four G550s.

These planes would be used in ELINT [electronic intelligence] missions, capturing different radio frequencies used by land or air systems to determine their position, intercept them if they are not encrypted or locate their point of emission.
