Official: Morocco returns to GMT time

It’s now official. Morocco will return to GMT on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at 3am. The hands of your watches will then be moved back by 60 minutes.

This measure comes under Article I of Royal Decree N° 455 67 promulgated on June 2, 1967. The return to GMT + 1 is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2019.

This change of time will occur just before the beginning of the month of Ramadan in Morocco. The first day of this holy month will be Tuesday, May 7, 2019.

Aid Al Fitr will take place this year on June 5, 2019. This means that the next holy month of fasting would only last 29 days, instead of 30. These dates concerning the beginning of Ramadan in Morocco.

Work schedules in public administrations and local communities will be arranged during the holy month of Ramadan, from 9:00 to 15:00, Monday to Friday.
