It’s official. Egypt will host the next African Cup scheduled from June 15 to July 13, replacing Cameroon. The announcement was made a few minutes ago by CAF President Ahmad Ahmad following the meeting in Dakar of the executive committee of the instance.
In addition to Egypt, South Africa was also a candidate to host the prestigious African tournament.
Initially scheduled Wednesday, this working session was advanced to Tuesday morning (scheduled start at 09:30 French, GMT +1).
Recall that the CAF decided on November 30, 2018 to withdraw the organization of CAN 2019 in Cameroon. CAF inspectors recently conducted a security inspection and inspection of infrastructure, stadiums and accommodation, which demonstrated the country’s inability to host the planned CAN next summer with 24 teams hired instead of 16.
