In full confinement, couples can now marry online in Morocco. The Department of Justice has launched an electronic portal to apply for marriage authorization online. This decision is part of the main advances adopted by the ministry in order to strengthen its strategy for modernizing the administration by dematerializing judicial procedures.
When the confinement was announced on March 18, several newlyweds had to postpone or even cancel their wedding ceremony. But with this portal, they can at least make their requests remotely in order to obtain marriage authorization in most of the courts of the Kingdom. This is a new service, which is available through the electronic portal of the Ministry of Justice, http://eadoul.justice.gov.ma/.
As a reminder, the federal government of the United Arab Emirates has also given the green light for long-distance marriage, in order to avoid gatherings that promote the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
If total containment will eventually be adopted, the Moroccan state will certainly provide a series of devices to ensure a normal life for its citizens. However, since the sustainability of this pandemic has not yet been defined, all marriages and religious ceremonies are suspended until further notice.
Excellent information, thank you!
Thank you for this update. Do you know if this allowance is only for Moroccan citizen couples or can Moroccan citizen and their foreign fiance obtain authorisation for marriage as well?
Chelsie hi, did you get any reply on your question!?
