The head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, declared on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York that Spain has “a great opportunity to restore good relations with Morocco”.
“You know that Morocco is in the process of forming a new government, we will wait for it to be constituted, but I believe that what happened during the previous months, in August more particularly, shows that we are facing a great opportunity to re-establish good relations with Morocco, but also on a more solid basis… ”, declared Pedro Sanchez, during a press conference held in New York, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the General Assembly of UN. The head of the Spanish government added that the high-level meeting with Morocco will be held in the next few days.
Relations between Morocco and Spain have been shaken by a serious diplomatic crisis caused by the reception in April of the leader of the Polisario Front in a hospital in Logroño under a false identity.
