Qatar grants financial aid to Palestine

Qatar has allocated $ 480 million in aid to the Palestinian territories to support education and health services and emergency humanitarian relief, the official QNA news agency reported.

Doha has also allocated an additional $ 180 million for “emergency relief and humanitarian assistance and to support United Nations programs in Palestine”. The aid will also go to the electricity sector to ensure uninterrupted supply.

The announcement of Qatar’s aid came one day after Palestinian officials in the Gaza Strip announced a cease-fire with Israel after the worst violence in years. Qatar regularly provides aid to Gaza, controlled by Hamas.
