RAM launches a new Rabat-Laâyoune line

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is consolidating its regional air base in Laâyoune by launching, as of March 11, a new line connecting the city to Rabat, with two weekly frequencies, it was announced Thursday. The flights will be operated by planes of type B737-800, every Monday and Wednesday at a fixed and attractive price which is MAD 800 one way, indicates the RAM in a press release, announcing that flights departing from Laayoune will be scheduled at 9:35 a.m. for an arrival in Rabat at 11:10 a.m. As for flights departing from Rabat, they will be scheduled at 12:00 p.m. for arrival at 1:40 p.m.

The company is also strengthening its line connecting Laâyoune to Marrakech by an additional frequency (3 in total) operated every Sunday by B737-800 type planes, at the fixed price of MAD 700 (one way), notes the same source, noting that the flights will be scheduled from Laayoune at 9:35 am for an arrival in Marrakech at 10:55 am. Flights from Marrakech will be scheduled at 9:10 p.m. for an arrival in Laayoune at 10:35 p.m.

“These new air routes are part of our strategy to boost national tourism. They will allow our fellow citizens to move more easily in the regions of Laayoune, Marrakech and Rabat as well for personal, tourist or professional reasons”, indicated the President and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, Hamid Addou, quoted in the press release. Royal Air Maroc thus increases the number of air routes operated on its regional hub of Laâyoune to 8 lines at the rate of 41 frequencies per week, namely 14 flights per week from and to Casablanca (at the fixed price of MAD 800 including tax/one way) , 6 flights per week to and from Agadir (at the fixed price of MAD 600 including tax/one way), 6 flights per week from and to Dakhla (at the fixed price of MAD 600 including tax/one way) and 6 flights per week from and to Las Palmas (at the fixed price of MAD 650 including tax/one way).

There are also 3 flights per week to and from Marrakech (at the fixed price of MAD 700 dh including tax/one way), 2 flights per week from and to Rabat (at the fixed price of MAD 800 dh including tax/one way), 2 flights per week from and to Guelmim (at the fixed price of MAD 350 dh including tax/one way) and 2 flights per week from and to Smara (at the fixed price of MAD 300 dh including tax/one way).

The inauguration of the Royal Air Maroc air base in Laâyoune took place on June 11, 2019, recalls the press release, adding that its establishment came after the conclusion of a partnership agreement between the Council of the Region of Laâyoune Sakia Al Hamra and Royal Air Maroc. It is part of the policy of Royal Air Maroc which aims to support the Kingdom’s advanced regionalization strategy. A policy that revolves around strengthening domestic air links in order to help open up the most remote regions of the country and stimulate economic and tourist development.
