The top management of the RAM gathered the staff representatives yesterday to present to them the tracks envisaged for the exit from the crisis which generates losses of the order of MAD 50 million per day for the national company. It is about the implementation of a draconian restructuring plan. This plan provides for the departure of 858 Royal Air Maroc employees out of nearly 5,000. On these departures, there are at least 180 airline pilots.
In a first phase, a call for voluntary departures will be launched towards employees over 57 years old with 15 years of seniority. 2nd measure: A significant reduction in the fleet. Thus, out of 59 aircraft, 20 aircraft will be stopped, including 4 Boeing B-787s. An aircraft sales transaction cannot be excluded.
Finally, last measure: The temporary closure of certain air routes as soon as international air traffic resumes. Cancellation of all flights to and from certain destinations until July 31. For other destinations, the offer will be reduced at least until August 31.
