Low-cost airline Ryanair inaugurated a new base at Agadir-Al Massira airport on Tuesday.
The inauguration of this base is part of the implementation of a partnership agreement concluded last July between the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and Ryanair with a view to strengthening the attractiveness of the region. destination of Agadir.
“The airline has inaugurated its new base at Agadir-Al Massira airport by launching its first direct flight from Bologna to Agadir,” the director of Agadir Al Massira airport, Mohamed Bahaj said, noting that this initiative will strengthen air links between the capital of Souss and 20 other destinations including Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Napoli, Paris, Toulouse and Porto.
“These new airlines will further improve the attractiveness of the city of Agadir which currently offers around 33 international destinations managed by 12 airlines, in addition to domestic flights to the cities of Casablanca, Rabat, Fez, Tangier, Laâyoune and Dakhla”, he clarified.
As part of the 2021-2025 investment program, Agadir-Al Massira airport will undergo redevelopment works to improve the quality of services for travelers, added Bahaj.
For her part, the director of the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Agadir Souss-Massa, Asmaa Oubou welcomed the inauguration of this new Ryanair base which will allow Moroccan and foreign travelers to better enjoy the city of Agadir, as a prime tourist destination.
In order to strengthen the attractiveness of Agadir, the ONMT has implemented a strategy focused in particular on strengthening air links from the main emitting basins, in this case France, Germany and the United Kingdom, as well as the integration of the Taghazout seaside resort into the Agadir brand.
