The first day of a second round table at the invitation of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for the Moroccan Sahara, Horst Köhler ended late Thursday night. Held at Château Le Rosey in Bursins near Geneva, with the participation of a Moroccan delegation, alongside Algeria, the “polisario” and Mauritania, this second round table will continue tomorrow Friday.
The Moroccan delegation led by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, includes Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations in New York, Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid, President of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, Yenja El Khattat, President of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and Fatima El Adli, an actor and member of the City Council of Smara.
A note to the press released by the United Nations Office in Geneva said Kohler “hopes that this meeting will strengthen the positive momentum that characterized the first roundtable held last December in Geneva.”
The same note recalled that this round table “will allow delegations to discuss the elements necessary for a solution, according to Security Council Resolution 2440, regional issues and confidence-building measures”.
