SDX Energy relaunches its oil prospecting in Morocco

Oil and gas exploration company SDX Energy wants to launch two new tests on the LMS-2 deposit of the Lalla Mimouna (Kenitra) permit at the end of the 3rd quarter or at the beginning of the 4th quarter 2020.

“The post-drilling analysis of the LMS-2 at Lalla Mimouna identified similarities to the discovery at the LAM-1 well made by the previous operator of the concession in 2015,” said the British company.

SDX Energy estimates that the LMS-2 well could contain 1.5 billion cubic feet of gas. “An additional 6 billion cubic feet could be secured in separate areas with the same characteristic, in addition to an additional 3.4 billion cubic feet of potential resources if the tests pass,” the company said.

Another estimate: the concession could generate 10.9 billion cubic feet. It is planned that the LMS-2 deposit will be tested when the restrictions imposed by the covid-19 in Morocco will allow the perforation and test teams to return to the kingdom.

SDX Energy further indicated that it has identified 25.5 billion cubic feet of additional potential resource in several areas of interest in the same concession.
