Spanish minister: Morocco/EU strong relations

The recent adoption by the European Parliament of the agricultural agreement between Morocco and the European Union (EU) continues to react. It illustrates the desire to build strong and stable relations between the two sides, said the Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas.

“The adoption by the European Parliament of the EU-Morocco agricultural agreement is a very important act, which not only is a green light to the marketing of agricultural products, but demonstrates the commitment to build strong and stable relations between the two parts,” he said in a statement on the sidelines of the International Forum on Food and Agriculture (17-19 January), organized as part of the International Green Week in Berlin.

Planas has described this adoption as “very positive”, expressing the wish to see the new fisheries agreement between Morocco and the EU” follow the same path in the weeks or months to come”. “We will work actively in this direction,” said the Spanish minister.

Recall that the European Parliament adopted, last Wednesday in plenary session in Strasbourg, the EU-Morocco agricultural agreement with 444 votes in favor, 167 against and 68 abstentions. With the adoption of this agreement, the two parties have reached a new level in their multidimensional strategic partnership.

Morocco was represented at the International Forum for Food and Agriculture by the Minister of Agriculture, Marine Fisheries, Rural Development and Forests, Aziz Akhannouch, who inaugurated the pavilion of the Kingdom to International Green Week Berlin.
