Tangier: An ambush drops traffickers

The mobile customs brigade of Assilah, reporting to the Regional Directorate of Customs and Excise, seized, over the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, more than four tons of cannabis resins in the south of Tangier.

“As part of the fight against all forms of trafficking, including drug trafficking, a team of Assilah’s mobile brigade managed, Tuesday around 11:30, to seize a utility car carrying 4,075 kg of cannabis resin”, said Rachid Lhimer, chief of the mobile brigade.

He told that an ambush by the elements of the customs brigade on the road 4603, in the municipality of Hjar Nhal, allowed to immobilize the vehicle, which was wearing falsified plates, adding that the car was carrying some 125 packages of nearly 33 kg each.

Lhimer noted that the intervention unit was supported by two patrols belonging to Tangier-ville and Tangier-port brigades. The vehicle and its cargo were towed to the headquarters of the Tangier mobile brigade for further investigation, he said.

And to conclude that the prosecution was informed of this seizure, and that the legal procedures of use were immediately launched.
