The Tokyo Olympics (Tokyo-2020), postponed due to the pandemic of the new Coronavirus (Covid-19), are rescheduled from July 23, 2021, the organizers announced on Monday, almost a year after the date originally planned.
This decision comes less than a week after the organizers and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the historic postponement of the Olympic Games, following growing concerns and pressure from athletes and national sports federations in because of the global health crisis.
The IOC decided, in agreement with all the parties concerned, including in particular the Japanese organizing committee, fixing the date of the Games from July 23 to August 08, 2021, adding that this decision was was taken this Monday at the end of the IOC Executive Board.
