The program of the Pope’s visit to Morocco

Pope Francis will visit Morocco on March 30 and 31 for his first visit to the Kingdom. The move, which should affect Casablanca and Rabat, should however be limited to the capital, at the request of Moroccan authorities, said the Vatican.

This is to facilitate the visit of the sovereign pontiff during these two days. Thus, on his arrival, the first meetings of the Pope will be the welcoming ceremony and the courtesy visit to King Mohammed VI at the Royal Palace. The pope will then address, at the same time, the Moroccan people, the authorities, the civil society and the diplomatic corps from the esplanade of the mosque Hassan.

The program of the day also includes visits to the Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Mohammed VI Institute of training for imams, preachers and a meeting with migrants at the headquarters of the diocesan Caritas.

On Sunday 31 March, a trip is scheduled to the rural center of social services in Temara. Then, a meeting will take place with priests, religious, consecrated persons and the World Council of Churches in the cathedral of Rabat. Mass is also planned at Rabat Cathedral.
