Times Higher Education 2019: 4 Moroccan Universities in the TOP 1000

Four Moroccan universities appear this year in the Times Higher Education University Ranking 2019, namely the university Cadi Ayyad of Marrakech, the university Mohammed V of Rabat, the University Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah (the USMBA) of Fez, and Hassan II University of Casablanca.

Morocco integrated for the first time this ranking in 2015 with the ranking of Cadi Ayyad University, followed in 2017 by Mohamed V University and USMBA, and Hassan II University in 2019.

USMBA President Radouane Mrabet said that at the national level, the University of Fez has advanced from third place (2018) to second place this year, noting that the most striking fact is its position leading Moroccan universities on the basis of the ”citations” indicator.

This criterion is measured by the number of times the international scientific publications of the university are cited by other researchers, he explained, saying that the high number of scientific citations reflects “the credibility of the work carried out by the university and the degree of innovation of the results obtained”.
