Umrah: Saudi Arabia authorizes return of pilgrims

Saudi authorities announced the gradual resumption of Umrah from next October, a few months after its suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement, the Saudi Interior Ministry said that citizens residing in Saudi Arabia in the first place will make this small pilgrimage to Mecca from October 4. However, only 30% of the reception capacity will be occupied to remain in good standing with respect for physical distancing.

The second phase will take place from October 18 and the third phase, which is the last, will take place from November 1. During this phase, the pilgrims residing in Arabia and outside the country will be authorized to make Umrah, the visit as well as the prayers, all this in the respect of the preventive measures for the health well being of all.
