Venezuela: Morocco reiterates its support for Guaido

Morocco is in favor of the real aspirations of the Venezuelan people and supports Juan Guaido following his re-election as president of the parliament, said, on Wednesday in Rabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita.

“Morocco’s position of the Venezuelan crisis is clear from the start. Morocco is with the true aspirations of the Venezuelan people, and supports Mr. Guaido following his re-election as president of the parliament,” Bourita said during a press conference after his talks with his Greek counterpart, Nikos Déndias.

Bourita noted that “Morocco is also working with the international community and with the States of the Lima Group to push towards the creation of an institutional framework that meets the true aspirations of the Venezuelan people”.

Morocco welcomes the re-election of Guaido as President of the Parliament, held within a framework where the law and the necessary quorum have been respected, he continued.

The minister indicated, moreover, that the Kingdom deplores and denounces the attempts to prevent the conduct of this election under normal conditions respecting the will of the Venezuelan deputies and allowing them to elect the president of the parliament, the legitimate representative of ambitions People.

Bourita has also indicated that the Kingdom will continue coordination to move towards a peaceful resolution of the Venezuelan crisis, respecting the aspirations of the Venezuelan people and the legitimacy in the country and which is in harmony with the efforts provided by the Organization of American States (OAS), the Lima Group and other organizations working in this context.
