WHO proud that African countries like Morocco manufacture Coronavirus vaccines

The World Health Organization (WHO) welcomed on Monday that African countries like Morocco will soon manufacture vaccines against the new coronavirus. “A month ago, the African Medicines Agency treaty entered into force, paving the way for improving the quality, safety, efficacy, availability and affordability of medicines and vaccines across the continent,” said its Managing Director, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Reacting on Twitter to the entry into force of the African Medicines Agency treaty, announced by Michel Sidibé, special envoy of the African Union (AU) for the creation of the African Medicines Agency, the Director General of the WHO has confirmed that this is a “historic moment for Africa”. “This is a crucial step towards a healthier, safer and fairer Africa”, he added, recalling that “Egypt, Morocco, Rwanda and Senegal have all signed agreements or protocols agree to the manufacture of vaccines against Covid-19 in their countries”.
