With help from Israel, Morocco to receive two million doses of Pfizer vaccine

Morocco is expected to receive a shipment of the US-German vaccine during August.

The Covid-19 vaccination campaign should continue to gain momentum in Morocco. A new vaccine should thus be added to the panoply available to the country, which includes the Sinopharm, Astra Zeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. As a reminder, 300,000 doses of this vaccine can be inoculated in a single dose.

Indeed, Morocco should receive “two million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine” as a source close to the matter told Daily Morocco. This new cargo will be shipped from the United States. The result of American-German cooperation, access to the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine has nevertheless “benefited from Israeli mediation,” said this source without giving further details.

The vaccine is “95% effective against symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection” according to the World Health Organization. Recent studies by the New England Journal of Medicine indicate that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is “88% effective against symptomatic delta variant infection.” A rate which reaches 93.7% for the alpha variant. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is one of the recognized vaccines for travel within the European Union.
