Xavi becomes coach of Qatari club Al-Sadd

FC Barcelona’s former star Spaniard Xavi Hernandez was named Al-Sadd’s coach, Tuesday, May 28, 2019, eight days after playing the final match of his playing career under the colors of the Qatari club.

“Xavi Hernandez will be the head coach of Al-Sadd from the start of the next season,” the newly-crowned Qatar club said in a statement.

The former FC Barcelona midfielder – with whom he has been eight-time national champion and four-time winner of the C1 – and Spain (133 caps), aged 39, had arrived at Al-Sadd in 2015 as a player.

He succeeds to the post of coach to the Portuguese Jesualdo Ferreira, at the end of the contract.
