Canadian Maya Gold & Silver announced the start of commercial production at the Zgounder mine. The new facility, which has a triple-acting grinding capacity (500 tonnes per day), has passed the test phase and started commercial production since 1 January.
Over a 28-day period, a total of 4,622 tonnes of low-grade ore with a mean silver content of 157 g/t was processed, the company said.
According to a 2018 study, the Zgounder mine has sufficient resources to maintain a mining operation for 10 years, with annual production of 1.35 million ounces of silver, peaking at 4.76 million ounces.
