Did Franck Lampard finally succeed in convincing Ajax Amsterdam for Hakim Ziyech? According to media Chelsea have signed a verbal agreement with the Dutch club for the transfer of the Moroccan international.
Chelsea would have beaten Manchester United and Arsenal for the signing of the 26-year-old midfielder. After having failed this winter, the Blues have not given up on the Moroccan nugget that seduced the English technician. The latter’s persistence would have paid off, since the Atlas Lion would be expected in the Premier League this summer.
According to media, this transfer would have been concluded up to 45 million euros, at the request of Franck Lampard after the Londoners had made no signature in January. However, the arrival of Ziyech is accompanied by a very specific condition: the qualification of the club in the Champions League for next season.
So far, nothing has been signed yet, but although other top European clubs have reportedly inquired of Ajax recently, the Dutch are currently only negotiating the final details with Chelsea. Ziyech, who still has a contract until 2022, was also associated with Bayern Munich this winter.
This season, the Moroccan star has faced Chelsea twice in the group stage – Chelsea winning 1-0 at Amsterdam ArenA before the two teams split the points in London (4-4).
Ziyech was named one of the top 20 UEFA players in the Champions League last season, who saw Ajax reach the semi-finals before being knocked out by Tottenham in a rebounding match.
